| The School of Graduate Studies in the Health Sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center offers graduate education leading to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and/or Master of Science (MS) degrees in Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Health Sciences and Biomedical Materials Science. Within the Biomedical Sciences program are three tracks: Biomedical Sciences, Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MD required) and Professional Portal. In some programs, a MS degree is not offered as a terminal degree. |
| The degree of Doctor of Philosophy is offered in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Biomedical Materials Science, Clinical Health Sciences, Microbiology, Neurosciences, Nursing, Pathology, Pharmacology & Toxicology, and Physiology & Biophysics. In addition, a combined MD/PhD program is offered to highly qualified students who wish to pursue a career as a physician-scientist. Acceptance into the MD/PhD program requires prior admission into medical school. |
| These broad-based and contemporary educational programs prepare students for a wide range of career opportunities in research, education, industry, governmental service (state and/or federal) and, if desired, for other educational experiences, advanced training, or practice. |
